28-09-2009 Success for Chandrayaan
CHANDRAYAAN overcame a wide draw at Wolverhampton to secure his first career victory on September 28.
The Bertolini gelding, making his sixth racecourse appearance, won a 6f nursery in the hands of jockey Tom McLaughlin.
Owned by Mohammed Jaber, the chestnut travelled in mid-division as Gower Sophia led them along.
McLaughlin got in behind the 15/2 shot as they've swung the top turn for home and Chandrayaan responded gamely.
He soon became embroiled in a thrilling tussle upfront with the game Gower Sophia but Chandrayaan had the final say for trainer Ed Dunlop's team, getting up towards the finish to score by three parts of a length.
