22-09-2009 Dunlop gears up for sales season
ED Dunlop is preparing for a busy few weeks at the major yearling sales over the next month or so.
It is an exciting time of the year as many stars of the future take their first tentative steps in public, albeit through a sales ring.
Dunlop is looking forward to both next week's auction at Goffs and then the renowned Tattersalls October yearling sale.
Of course, many horses will head to the sales with lofty reputations based on immaculate pedigrees. But there are also plenty of future winners who slip under the radar and go through at comparatively cheap rates.
This year, more than most in recent times, will present plenty of bargain opportunities. With it being a difficult financial climate worldwide, some bloodstock industry analysts have pointed out the value on offer.
Writing in the Racing Post on September 21, Ed Prosser stated: "If you have ever fancied owning a racehorse, there have been few more financially advantageous times to get involved."
Likewise, Ed Dunlop is sure that this year presents the chance to snap up some value.
He said: “The yearling sales will provide an interesting market this autumn and I'm not alone in thinking that it could be a shrewd time to invest if resources allow.
"I look forward to assisting both my existing and potential clients at the sales. Please don't hesitate to contact the office at La Grange Stables on 01638 661 998."
