27-05-2009 Last Three Minutes late, late, Lingfield show!
LAST THREE Minutes got up in the shadow of the post to claim a second career victory in thrilling fashion at Lingfield on May 27.
The gelding by Val Royal, a 5-2 chance, was held up at the rear of the field early on in the 1m handicap by jockey Ryan Moore.
Along the back straight Moore was forced to get to work on his mount as Mount Hadley wound up the tempo from the front.
But as they entered the straight Last Three Minutes showed an impressive turn of foot to come from last to first under a perfectly-timed ride Moore challenge.
The four-year-old’s victory margin was a neck, a result that will have put a smile on the face of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson - part of the Right Angle Club who own the horse - just hours ahead of his side’s Champions’ League final with Barcelona.
