23-12-2008 Ed Dunlop Moves to La Grange
Recent weeks have meant a huge change for Ed Dunlop Racing as we have moved from Gainsborough Stables to the historic La Grange Stables on the other side of Newmarket.
La Grange was previously occupied by those such as Major Dick Hern, Sean Woods and most recently James Fanshawe.
In the next few photos, you can see the progress as the yard has been transformed into a modern day training establishment. New photos of the finished result will follow shortly!!!
La Grange Stables can accommodate 59 horses in the red brick stable blocks and an additional 24 boxes have taken the capacity up to 83. The pictures below show the original horse walkers and the site being renovated for the new boxes.

The new boxes are now in place
The horse walkers have been moved to the inside of the covered ride. We have two covered horse walkers and a new lunge ring which is essential for breaking in the yearlings in the winter. Originally the inside of the ride was grassland and as you can see from the pictures below, extensive work has been carried out so that the horse walkers could be positioned here.

The office has been completely renovated and re furbished. It was previously used as a bungalow for staff accommodation and major modifications have been made to the building to utilise it as the office for Ed Dunlop Racing. The office has been split into three rooms. The main room is host to Ed and Rebecca, Angela and Hannah and there is an entertainment room and guest room for owners and visitors.

The beginning of the re development of the office. There used to be a wall where the scaffolding was, which was removed to create more space.

This area used to be the living area in the bungalow and is now being used as part of the office

The most major development by far has been the hostel for the lads. The area above the stables has been transformed into eight bedrooms for the staff and downstairs there is a communal kitchen and dining area.

Work has started!
