18-07-2008 Riqaab wins his Maiden at Yarmouth

Riqaab made a winning return to the racecourse when he won the totesport.com Handicap at Yarmouth on Tuesday. He was held up early on in the nine furlong contest before laying down his challenge two furlongs out. He took up the lead inside the final furlong and stayed on well, in the hands of Richard Hills, to win by a length.

We were delighted with this result as Riqaab had shown promise on his only start at Doncaster last year. He was second at Lingfield in March but then appeared to lose his way a little on his next two starts.

Riqaab

He has always worked well at home and so we started using him as a lead horse for the two year olds and in doing so he seems to have regained his enthusiasm! Hopefully he can pick up a similar race before too long.
