11-07-2008 Eight To Follow Update
The 2008 racing season is well under way and with twenty four winners under our belt and plenty of placed horses, the eight to follow competition is beginning to get interesting!
Sir Alex Ferguson and Mrs Anne Metcalfe are currently leading the competition with 95 points.
In joint second place is Mr Martin Mitchell and Mr Toddhunter with 85 points.
Mrs Valerie Griffiths is currently in third place with 40 points.
Wasan is our leading point’s earner so far. He won his maiden on his only start last year and got his 2008 campaign off to the best possible start in April when he won at Nottingham. He went on to win again at Haydock before finishing sixth in a competitive Heritage Handicap at Newmarket’s July meeting.

Wasan
Jeer, Formation and Temple Of Thebes have all earned 40 points so far this season. Jeer ran consistently in his first two starts, before winning a Handicap at Newmarket. He was just held off a week later under a penalty but continues to please us in his races and hopefully we can pick up another race with him before the end of the season.
Formation ran well on the all weather early on in the season and was just held off at Goodwood in a competitive Handicap. He went up to Pontefract where he got an easy lead from the favourite and he was produced late on the line by Jamie Spencer to win the race.

Formation
Temple Of Thebes was placed twice on her only two starts last year. Her maiden win will go down in the history books as she was the first horse to win at Great Leighs and she did it in style, winning the race by four lengths. She went on to win again at Newmarket over six furlongs and then finished eight in a competitive sprint Heritage Handicap at the July meeting.
