Zamjar Wins At Epsom

Fri 08 July 2016

Zamjar headed to Epsom yesterday evening with three placed runs under his belt. He had most recently been beaten by the newcomer Whitetower but that horse has been declared to run in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes tomorrow. He broke well under Jim Crowley and he was soon tracking the second favourite three C's on his outside. As they headed into the business end of the race the two of them had the race to themselves, Zamjar edged slightly left under the camber but when straightened he lengthened nicely to win comfortably by two and a half lengths.

This was a deserved first success for Zamjar and he has been unlucky to run into two smart horses on his last two runs. The handicapper had given him a provisional handicap rating of 80 and hopefully he won't adjust this as it is likely he did not have to improve to win this contest. He settled and travelled well in the contest and he shows good speed out of the stalls, whilst he shifted to his left under pressure this is something that the camber at Epsom encourages horses to do.

Congratulations to Zamjar's owner Mr Al Naboodah who has been a big supporter of La Grange this season, we are delighted Zamjar has delivered on the promise he had shown earlier in the season. Well done also to everyone here at La Grange, the horses have been running well but to have five seconds during the last week has been frustrating so it is fantastic to get a winner on the board for July. Everyone has kept working hard and the team spirit has been good, let's keep it going for the rest of the season.
