Trip To Paris leads the string.

If the reports are correct, my staff are slowly beginning to melt as the baking weather continues in Newmarket.

The first of July - how on earth has that happened!?

Yesterday’s golf left plenty to be desired, although I gained some solace by nailing the longest drive. Today is another day and I am back for more at Aldeburgh Golf Club where I will be up against the legendary Tom Goff.

Unfortunately Mrs D’s Wimbledon excursion has been put on hold as she discovered yesterday that her tickets are actually for next Wednesday, not today. She will now be watching the action on TV.

The new crop of BHA Graduates visited this morning for a tour of the yard before seeing second lot on the Hill. Unfortunately I couldn't be there, but I was told they were an excellent bunch.

Kitten’s Red ran well at Brighton yesterday, travelling like the best horse coming down the hill without quite getting home. We always thought he wanted a trip, but his last two runs have suggested otherwise, so he will probably return to a mile and a quarter next time.

Two runners at Kempton this evening. Girl With A Pearl steps up to seven furlongs in the juvenile maiden and she should be fine now tackling the polytrack.

Stall 11 is far from ideal, though, and Justice First has been handed the same draw for the six furlong handicap that closes the card. He shaped with more promise over course and distance last time and he’s handicapped to win again, but you need a bit of luck from out wide and much will depend on how the race pans out.

Finally, we welcomed another Australian jockey to La Grange this morning as Anthony Allen rode three for us to begin a three-week stint over here. Anthony, 22, has ridden over 250 winners in his career so far and the Brisbane native is looking to gain further experience during his time in Britain. We wish him the very best of luck.

Enjoy the heatwave!
