Cliff Face

Another beautiful morning here at HQ and amazingly they are having to water at the July Course to stop the ground from getting too fast, amazing to think that given how much rain we have had recently but every shower in recent days has missed the track. Simon Marsh came here this morning to see Crystal Dome, Mrs Emma Capon’s and Lord Lloyd -Webber’s unraced Dansili colt. Charlie-Gordon Watson was here to see the horses he has bought that are in training at La Grange. Patrick Cooper racing manager to Mrs Patino and Roger O Callaghan of Tallyho stud were also here. Debby’s diner sprung into action and was as good as ever.

We have two runners today at Lingfield and Great Yarmouth. Cliff Face steps up in trip today on her handicap debut, she shaped last time as if she needed a greater stamina test so I am hoping she will run well in the Lingfield fillies’ handicap at 3:30. Warrior Prince runs in the 4:40 1m Median Auction Maiden at Great Yarmouth, he ideally wants a little further but he looks to have every chance on the form book and we felt it was a good opportunity for him. He ran well when second last time and his saddle slipped slightly so hopefully he can go very close today.

Wales showed a lot of heart and played as a team when defeating Belgium 3-1 and I am hoping they can beat Portugal later on tonight. They won’t lack for support from the travelling fans and Portugal are still yet to win in ninety minutes so they are not without a chance. Aaron Ramsey has been a big influence in their midfield and his suspension is a big blow but the way the team gels I am sure the void will be filled and they won’t go down without a fight.

Black Saturday is just around the corner and it is very lucky that a lot of the Irish jockeys are able to head over and help out, as there is too much good racing run on one day. It was much better when the July Cup was run as a midweek fixture but I can see the commercial angle, it just does not help those involved at the core of the horseracing industry.
