Global Warning

Good afternoon from Newmarket! A long wait until our only runner today, with Global Warning taking his chance in the seven-furlong 0-85 handicap at Kempton at 7.15.

This horse is a half-brother to top-class sprinters The Tin Man and Deacon Blues, and he showed definite promise in two outings as a two-year-old last year. He resumed with a fine third behind the subsequently Listed-placed Daarick over this course and distance, before confirming himself a useful colt by running away with a Newcastle handicap.

He was inevitably punished by the handicapper for his easy Newcastle victory, and then flopped badly on his next outing at Newmarket. However, that was over a mile on turf, and came during a period when a few of our horses were running a little below par. So we hope that it was a one off blip, and his training since suggests that he is back in good form and ready for a race.

This is clearly a very competitive heat, but breaking from a handy draw over a trip and track we know that suits, it will be disappointing should Global Warning not be able to return to form and show us that he remains a promising colt going forwards. Gerald Mosse rides.

All the best,
