Good morning from Newmarket. We have a pair of runners today, and get underway with Cue’s Folly in the 3.15 at Yarmouth.

This filly has yet to make her way into the winner’s enclosure, though she went very close at Chepstow last summer. We have had trouble finding the right conditions for her ever since, as her rating precludes her from getting into many races. Her return to action at Chelmsford was disappointing and it is fair to say that her form is generally regressive.

However, she has since been put in foal to Brazen Beau and her future clearly lies in the breeding shed, but we thought we would give her one more chance on the track to see how she gets on. Fingers crossed she can put her best foot forward under Josephine Gordon.

Our second hopeful is San Diaco, who has his first go in handicap company at Kempton in the 5.55, a 0-70 over a mile for apprentice riders. He has had his three qualifying runs for a mark, his promising fifth at Wolverhampton in March sandwiched by two very lacklustre efforts. Those performances earned him a rating of 64 - which is possibly still a little higher than ideal - however, we need to get him rolling in handicaps to find out what he is made of.

Unfortunately the draw has been very unkind, and we are probably snookered out wide from gate 12, and it limits our options tactically. We have employed the services of young jockey Marco Ghiani, who is based with Stuart Williams, and he came in to give the horse a spin yesterday. We can only hope for the best given the drawn, but it would be great to see San Diaco offer some encouragement for the future.
