The string walking back down Warren Hill during the cold snap last week.

We are finally back online in the office after twelve days without broadband. It has been somewhat of a challenge but we have kept the show on the road despite the lack of help from our ‘friends’ at British Telecom.

La Grange has sent out a handful of runners since our last blog and whilst there have been no winners, Maanjam and Rock ‘N Red have both run well to finish placed. Rock ‘N Red was third in a fillies’ maiden at Wolverhampton and showed us some definite promise. Manjaam was a slightly unlucky second at Wolverhampton yesterday. He reared at the start and this meant’ he was not best placed given the tardy early pace. The way he finished his race off to just go down by a head was very pleasing. We would like to think he can win a race for us soon.

Thankfully the sharp frosts that hit us last week now seem to be behind us. As we rapidly approach the new Flat season it would be beneficial for all of the horses if we experienced some milder weather. As some of you may have read in the piece by Marcus Armytage of the Daily Telegraph (article below) I would have also appreciated milder weather last week.

I safely negotiated 21.5 miles of Norfolk terrain last Thursday when accompanying Richard Farquhar on the latest leg of his Walking The Courses journey between Great Yarmouth and Fakenham. He is raising money for two fantastic causes in Pancreatic Cancer UK and Racing Welfare. The link to donate is attached here www.virginmoneygiving.com/walkingthecourses.

Lastly myself and Mr Arculli would like to thank both the Victoria Racing Club and Melbourne Racing Club for putting on a memorial service for Red Cadeaux last Saturday. I am personally touched by the fact that another racing nation also took him to their hearts and have paid tribute to him in such a lovely way. Both Robin and Steve were looked after fantastically well out in Australia and they were presented with a beautiful sketch of Red as well as a set of his racing plates. He will be sorely missed by us all here at La Grange stables.
