Triple Genius

Good morning from Newmarket. We have a quiet week ahead of us with not too many entries and not too many runners, but we are represented at Wetherby this afternoon by the debutant Triple Genius, in the mile and a quarter three-year-old plus novice at 1.50.

A son of Mastercraftsman out of a Montjeu mare, he counts amongst his siblings the mile and a half Listed winner Tashaar, whilst my brother Harry trained the dam to finish second in the Pretty Polly at the Guineas meeting. So there is stamina in the family and, from what we have seen of Triple Genius at home, he is likely to need a trip. He is a great big horse that has taken quite a long time to come to hand, but his work has improved in recent times and he is certainly ready for a racecourse introduction now.

We have found a suitable starting point here at Wetherby, on nice good ground, and hopefully it will be an extremely beneficial experience for the horse. Daniel Muscutt has ridden him in exercise and will be in the saddle on track this afternoon. Fingers crossed this good-natured giant of a horse has an enjoyable first spin on the track.

All the best,
Ed.
