Times Up & Naaz double up on Friday

Times Up delighted his owners Mrs Stewart Brown and Mr Meacock when winning the Doncaster Cup for the second time, following up on last year's win in the Group 2 two and a quarter mile contest.

Having moved from John Dunlop's yard following his retirement from training, it has taken Times Up a while to acclimatise to his new surroundings in Newmarket, but he showed he was back to his best when taking the Friday staying feature at Doncaster.

Ryan Moore settled the gelded son of Olden Times at the rear of the seven runner field, making smooth headway three furlongs out to lead at the furlong pole. Times Up stayed on well up the home straight to virtually repeat last year's placing with High Jinx again defeated into second.

Ed quoted "He seems to like going left handed and may be one for the stayers' races in Dubai on World Cup night."

Naaz gave the team at La Grange an across the card Sandown to Doncaster double, when taking The BDO Project Finance Handicap Stakes divison one over one mile.

Held up by Adam Kirby in the early stages of the race, Naaz made good headway to lead inside the final furlong and stayed on well in the rain softened ground to win by a comfortable three quarters of a length from Hector's Chance.
