Fog on the Heath.

Another foggy start but we are bathed in sunshine once again.

A productive few days in Ireland has set the tone nicely for the October Yearling Sales over the next couple of weeks. Inspections for Book One begin on Saturday so there isn’t much thinking time throughout October.

We saddle two at Beverley this afternoon starting with Manjaam in the extended seven furlong maiden. He ran a super race to finish sixth at Sandown on debut and that form has worked out nicely, with the fourth winning easily since while the second, Absolute Champion, lines up in the preceding race. He is nicely drawn here and should step forward from that initial effort.

Pyla goes in search of the hat-trick in the fillies’ handicap later on the card and she only does enough in her races, so a 3lb rise for her Bath success is fair. She is the least exposed in the line-up and loves fast ground so while her draw is not ideal, we are hopeful she can continue on an upward curve.

Four declarations for Saturday. Red Galileo will run in the Group 3 Cumberland Lodge at Ascot, Zarwaan the Listed Guisborough Stakes at Redcar while Global Avenger and Harlestone Hopes head for Wolverhampton.

Back tomorrow.
