Pick of grass after first lot.

Quite warm first thing although it is much cooler now. The forecast rain has not materialised yet and it looks unlikely that we will get the deluge most forecasts predicted.

A relatively quiet day today with no runners and it was routine cantering exercise for the whole string. Bart Hellyer was here third lot to see Zoffany and Fun Money, our newly-named Authorized filly in whom he owns a share. Both cantered up Warren Hill.

Two declarations for Saturday with Dutch Uncle and Red Avenger both heading to Goodwood. We did not declare Arethusa, who was entered in the Oaks Trial, on account of the unsettled forecast and depth of opposition. All being well she will run in the Height Of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood next week.

Six entries for next Tuesday this morning with four at Kempton and two on the turf at Lingfield.

Finally, plenty of Classic hopefuls face a stern test this afternoon but both Emily and Rose are midway through their toughest tests to date with exam season well underway. Everything appears to be going smoothly so far and fingers crossed the final results for both read: “broke well, tracked leaders, smooth headway to lead two out, scooted clear, impressive”!

Back tomorrow. Ed.
