The new arrival.

Overcast with the potential for showers later this afternoon.

Chris Kilroy dropped in with his tour group to see second lot before breakfast and a walk around the yard. Thankfully the weather was reasonably kind.

It was disappointing to have two short-priced favourites turned over yesterday. Hajeer travelled well but was swamped inside the last having used plenty of energy to get over from a wide draw, while the ground was probably a little soft for Rock Lobster but we were keen to take our chance under a penalty.

No runners today but one declaration for Saturday with Manndawi heading to Windsor for the Listed August Stakes. George Baker will ride and he is due to head into first quarantine for Australia with Red Cadeaux and Trip To Paris next month.

A couple of entries for Wednesday with Pyla and Clarentine possiblities for Bath and Blushes for Lingfield.

Mrs D and I enjoyed an excellent dinner courtesy of Jimmy and Jane George yesterday evening. We were joined by Simon and Karen Crisford, Catherine Stewart, Sam and Ruffy Bullard as well as Martin Mitchell, part-owner of Rock Lobster. He was not too despondent after Bath!

Finally, we are awaiting a new addition to the Dunlop household this afternoon with our eight-week-old whippet puppy due to be dropped off. Molly and Puddle will be excited I’m sure, although I don’t know if the same can be said for Noodle. He is currently unnamed – what do you think of Otto?

Back tomorrow.
