Returning home.

No rain yet but the skies are ominous.

Mrs D and the kids arrived safely back from Spain yesterday evening and Emily received her A-Level results this morning. She did incredibly well, securing an A, B and C, and we are extremely proud of her.

Hajeer shaped with promise at Kempton yesterday. She was slowly away again and they didn’t go very fast, but she stayed on nicely enough down the outside to suggest she could win a modest race, potentially over an extra furlong.

No runners this afternoon but five declarations for Saturday. Red Cadeaux returns to the track in the Geoffrey Freer and he will be partnered by George Baker. Alqubbah runs in the preceding fillies’ maiden, while Clarentine goes to Ripon, Mulhaam to Doncaster and Sharaakah in the fillies’ nursery on the July Course.

Seven entries for Wednesday including a couple at York. Oasis Fantasy is a possibility for the two mile handicap while Qeyaadah could line up in the six furlong nursery that closes the card.

I won’t be racing on Saturday – I’m going to Deauville tomorrow for the yearling sale – but it will be nice to get back on course next week, with the Ebor Meeting up there with the very best.

The Juddmonte still looks a cracker, but trying to find the winner of the Great Voltigeur (for which we did not confirm Prince Gagarin) might require some spiritual intervention. What will Aidan run?

Finally, we are currently advertising for a yard person. Full details here: http://bit.ly/1JVFgl4

Back tomorrow with thoughts on our seven runners.

Ed.
