Fabulous Red

Good morning from Newmarket, where a bit of rain has set in at last! We are on weather watch for our Saturday runners, as ideally we would like to see a bit of decent ground at Lingfield and Newmarket, though more on that later. Yesterday was a day to forget, with Sageness running rather deplorably at Chepstow and King Kevin patently failing to stay two miles at Kempton – that experiment is likely to be shelved! This is a game of highs and lows, always.

Today I have just two runners once again. At Brighton in the 4.00, Fabulous Red takes her chance in the mile and a quarter 0-85. A tough and consistent filly, she has been unlucky to finish second twice already this season, and then probably had her stamina stretched by a mile and a half last time out. Her recent trip to Goodwood resulted in her being withdrawn due to a horse box fire! Thankfully, she was completely unharmed. A slightly tricky filly, the track today is an unknown and getting to the start might not be the easiest, but everything else ought to be in her favour. We have employed the services of Adam Kirby, who is surely the best man for such a job. I fear that Affina, the favourite, might have a little too much for us, but this game filly never lets us down and I expect another good run.

Our other runner today is Global Destination in the 2.20 at Yarmouth. A newcomer, it would be foolish to expect too much against a couple of previous winners that look potentially smart. Hopefully we will see a nice introduction and something to build on- Gerald Mosse rides.

All the best,
Ed.
