Red Verdon

Good morning from Newmarket. After a busy few days at the sales it is back to business as usual today when we send one runner to run at HQ when Teenage Gal takes her chance at Newmarket in the seven-furlong fillies handicap at 3.00.

She has been steadily progressive over the summer, with the highlight being her win in August at Chepstow over seven furlongs. She then ran another decent race at Sandown to finish third beaten 2 ¼ lengths. Today’s race is undoubtedly another step up in class as she steps in to 0-90 company, but I hope she is up to competing at this level. She has a nice light weight of 8-5, and in stall eleven I hope she has a decent draw with the stalls being placed on the stands’ side of the course. All things considered, it will be a tough ask for Teenage Gal, but we will give it our best shot!

The excitement in the yard is building as Red Verdon commences his long journey to Melbourne today. Robin Trevor-Jones and his regular pilot Steve Nicholson are accompanying him and we wish them all a safe journey. We are hoping that he will line up for the Caufield Cup on 20th October and then take part in the big one, The Melbourne Cup on Tuesday 6th November. We will keep you updated on his progress over there on the EDR website.

All the best,

Ed
