Dancingwithwolves

Good morning from Newmarket. We close the week with just the single runner at Doncaster, as Dancingwithwolves takes his chance in the mile 0-80 handicap at 5.00.

This lad was very hot last year, requiring an awful lot of work from the team to get him to calm down and become more tractable. In his two novice outings since the turn of the year we saw a real step forward in terms of how he races, but when stepping up to a mile and a quarter last time out he was ferociously keen and inevitably had nothing left for the closing stages.

So we revert to a mile today, and there are reasons from a pedigree point of view to hope that he will handle the going which is officially soft. This is a tough contest and we are still unsure of exactly how well we are treated from a mark of 73. However, Dancingwithwolves always travels like a talented animal in his races, and it is hoped that stepping back to a mile in handicap company can prove the making of him. Dan Muscutt maintains his association with the horse.

All the best,
Ed.
