Solajan Proves Too Strong At Lingfield

Thu 09 March 2017

Solajan

Solajan made a promising debut at Wolverhampton when finishing a close second in an extended mile Maiden. He headed to Lingfield yesterday with what looked like solid claims in a competitive six runner 1m2f Maiden. Our colt was worryingly keen in the early part of the race as the field crawled during the first half mile. Luckily Adam Kirby used his initiative and when a gap opened on the rail he sent the son of Lope De Vega forward. He was much more relaxed in front and Kirby kicked for home off of the final bend, our colt found plenty for pressure and held off Waterville Dancer by half a length.

We will give him a break now before bringing him back for handicaps once the turf season has begun. This was a pleasing performance from Solajan given how the race developed and he will be seen to better effect in a strongly run race. The handicapper will give him a mark next Tuesday and we will plan his targets from there but we hope he is not too hard on him.

Congratulations to Mr Saeed Jaber the owner of Solajan. We hope your colt will step forward from this run and give you a lot of enjoyment during the 2017 season. It was fantastic to end a frustrating run of four seconds in a row.Well done to everyone here at La Grange, we have made a solid start to 2017 and let's hope it continues into April when the turf campaign begins.
