Snow Fairy to carry on racing next year

Mon 03 October 2011

There were so many talking points from a fabulous week-end's racing but surely there was no better news than the revelation from Ed Dunlop that our globetrotting superstar SNOW FAIRY, such a brave third to German glamour gal Danedream in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, will stay in training next year.

Clearly chuffed to bits how well Snow Fairy dug in up the Longchamp straight to hold on to her £394,000 plus prize, Ed said "I was very proud of the filly and it is terrific news and such a sporting gesture that Mrs Cristina Patino, the owner, has given us the green light to carry on racing her as a five-year-old."

"Snow Fairy's four-year-old campaign started late because of her injury in Dubai but she has repeatedly produced a PB (personal best) this summer, improving from the Eclipse to run such a brilliant race against Midday in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, stepping up another gear to give So You Think a fright in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown and then reversing the form with the Coolmore horse by pulling out what is surely her best performance yet in Paris."

"Frankie (Dettori) felt that she might win a furlong and a half out and even when it became clear that she could not match Danedream's finishing kick she never stopped trying and ran all the way to the line."

"Snow Fairy has done us all so proud on her travels and if Mrs Patino agrees she will soon be heading East again, either for the Japan Cup or the Queen Elizabeth 11 Cup, which she won last year and on the way home she will again take in Hong Kong, which proved such a successful stop-off last year, too. It is all very exciting and to think that we can look forward to doing it all over again next year."

Magical moment, Ed, and to borrow Del Boy's favourite line, "Luvvly Jubbly!"
