Snow Fairy only an ok draw

Thu 09 December 2010

SNOW FAIRY, who bids to end what has been a magnificent season in a blaze of glory by winning the Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin on Sunday has been drawn 8 of 13 for the mile and a quarter showpiece, which looks one of the toughest races of the night.

Ed said: "It is only an ok draw but we can't do much about it. You never want to be pushed too wide around this track but we have the favourite (Vision d'Etat) next door to us and it could have been a lot worse."

"I am happy with the ground and the filly seems in terrific form but there are no plans for Ryan (Moore) to sit on her before the big day. He jumped straight aboard in Japan and that worked a treat and in any event, he knows Snow Fairy well enough by now, so we are set fair and ready to rumble. It is a very competitive race but we will give it our best shot."

Our conversation was intermittenly broken by the fact that Ed was in a subway negotiating how to get a train back to the hotel after a shopping expedition. "The girls (Becky and Mrs Hills) have left a bit of a dent in our credit cards but it's all great fun and while temperatures are not as high as we had expected, we are certainly warmer than you are," he added.
