A muggy and grey morning in Newmarket today.

Kitten’s Red became our fourth winner in the last seven days yesterday when he held on to finish in front at Bath.

He travelled well for a long way before taking the lead over a furlong out to be driven to the line. This was the fantastic comeback he needed after his disappointing reappearance at Windsor the time before.

I believe it was the first winner Willie Twiston-Davies has ridden for me and it’s great to see him doing so well again this year. All being well the handicapper will not be too tough on Kitten’s Red and hopefully new can win again with him in the near future.

Just one runner today at Goodwood in the shape of Oasis Fantasy, Mrs Patino’s four year old who has previous form there.

Today’s race brings a step up in trip for Oasis Fantasy and lets hope he builds on the promise he showed in his last run at Ascot. Hopefully he will cope with the step up in trip but there look to be a few progressive horses in the race particularly Roger Charlton’s, Quest For More.

Tomorrow I will be joining Prince Gagarin where he runs at the Curragh in the Gallinule Stakes. We decided against running him at Goodwood yesterday as I felt the ground had quickened up significantly and by all accounts there will be much more suitable ground in Ireland.

Despite bringing solid form to the race, Prince Gagarin faces a number of potential serious improvers; none less than the beautifully bred Giovanni Canaletto, a half-brother to Derby winner, Ruler Of The World who despite only being a maiden winner is by all accounts held in high regard.

A quiet, straight forward Saturday morning at La Grange today with four lots out on Warren Hill before an afternoon ahead of great racing!

Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend all.

Back Monday, Ed.
