Trip To Paris has a pick of grass in the sun with his rider 'Darkie'

Another beautiful morning here in Newmarket, we really are being spoilt by this weather.

No runners today so a chance to catch up on the tennis and watch the racing, we do however saddle two at Ayr tomorrow; Biff Johnson lines up in the 1m2f maiden, we have been waiting to run this horse with a bit of ease underfoot so with more rain arriving in Scotland overnight conditions should be perfect.

His debut run at Chelmsford where he came sixth was not run without promise and this race has turned out to be a strong all-weather maiden. He is faced with an extra couple of furlongs and is entitled to improve- this doesn’t look the deepest of races.

Half an hour later Hanno lines up in the 1m2f handicap which didn’t look to contain anything glaringly ahead of it’s mark and he seemed to get the trip ok at Nottingham.  We think there is life in a rating of 72.

We have made a couple of entries for Friday including the first of the year for our Montrose 4th; Sagaciously, she has been entered at Ascot.

Finally today’s Eclipse might not be long on numbers but it is not short on interest with Derby winner Golden Horn taking on the Grey Gatsby who should have won the Prince of Wales Stakes. Hopefully it won’t be run at a crawl and will be a good battle.
