Just two runners for us on this Saurday afternoon, and we are probably going in hope rather than expectation.

We get underway with Alwisaam in the 2.55 at Wolverhampton, a 9.5 furlong novice for three-year-olds and above. Given that he is only making his debut in late August of his three-year-old campaign, you will understand that Alwisaam has had a few setbacks along the way. He is a speedily-bred son of Dark Angel, whose sibling Delizia won the Listed Marygate Stakes over five-furlongs at York as a juvenile.

Alwisaam has not inherited that sort of precocity or speed, hence he is starting off at this distance, but he is coming forward in his work and is now ready to get started. From a nice draw hopefully he can break well and enjoy the experience, but there is no doubt he will improve an awful lot for the run. Royston Ffrench takes the ride.

Our second runner today is Rainbow Spirit in the mile and a quarter 0-55 at Lingfield at 7.30. This filly ran into some useful types as a two-year-old but has shown very little this year in truth. We return to the AW, on which she ran ok on one occasion last year, to see if that might unearth some extra improvement, but only a watching brief can be advised. Liam Keniry takes the ride.

Al the best,
Ed.
