Red Cadeaux finished for the season

Mon 18 October 2010

RED CADEAUX, who ran far better than his finishing position of ninth in last Saturday's Cesarewitch at Newmarket might suggest, has been roughed off for the season but is a horse whom Ed thinks could develop into a Group performer next year.

Ed said:"Red Cadeaux did not stay the final quarter-mile in that rain-softened ground. Obviously, his low draw did not help - he was the only one from a single-figure stall to finish in the first 12 - but Johnny Murtagh felt that he was coming there to be invoved at the three-furlong pole but then emptied a furlong later, and, being by Cadeaux Genereux, stamina was always going to be the worry."

"However, Johnny reckons that he could be a big player in some of the top two-mile races next year, so we will look at the Further Flight at Nottingham and the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot as well as the Yorkshire Cup, Goodwood Cup and Lonsdale Stakes later on, though he would always want a bit of cut, so his programme will be determined by the ground."
