Best of luck to Johnny.

Largely overcast with the threat of some rain this afternoon.

I trust you all enjoyed an excellent weekend. It was quite quiet here with Mrs D and the kids still in Spain, but I was delighted Pyla got her head in front at Lingfield.

Just about everything went wrong for her throughout the race, being slowly away and receiving a hefty bump passing the two, but she showed excellent resolution to fight back in the closing stages. This was a poor contest, although she might be up to defying a small rise.

Red Avenger sulked in the Shergar Cup Mile and he is a tricky customer these days. However, the event as a whole worked extremely well once again, and for the girls to land the team award and Sammy Jo-Bell the silver saddle was a super story. An excellent afternoon all-round.

No runners today or tomorrow but Hajeer has been declared to run in the seven furlong nursery at Kempton on Wednesday.

A number of entries for the weekend, including Red Cadeaux in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury. He has used this race as a stepping stone to Australia for the last couple of years and the timing works nicely. We will be keeping a close eye on the weather, as we will for our other potential participants Island Remede and Sagaciously.

We have finalised our team for the Racing Centre five-a-side football tournament on Sunday and hopefully we can build on our sports day successes! Entry forms are still available for those who have not yet signed up.

Finally, we are all wishing Johnny the very best of luck as he starts the five-day apprentice course at the British Racing School today. Johnny has put in plenty of hard work over the past few months to earn his place on the course and we are certain he will do very well.

Back tomorrow.
