Good afternoon. Today Global Humor tries his luck in the 7.55 at Wolverhampton, a seven-furlong 0-70 handicap.

Humor has been frustrating for some time, as he possesses a good deal of ability but has not entered the winners’ enclosure since his second career start way back in July 2017. He was initially a little high in the weights, but there is no complaint on that score now from a mark of just 66.

His fourth over this C&D in November was a hint that things were going in the right direction, whilst he nearly won at Lingfield the time after, only to falter in the closing stages. A reproduction of those performances should see him go well here.

Those runs coincided with the application of blinkers, but they did not have the same effect when we dropped him to six-furlongs at Lingfield on his most recent run. That was an abject disappointment, so we return to seven-furlongs and the scene of his only career victory this evening. The blinkers have been taken off to see if he responds positively to the change, and all we can do is keep our fingers crossed! He has the talent to go very close, but whether he will put his best foot forward is anyone’s guess.

All the best,
Ed.
