Bawaader

Good morning from Newmarket. Just the one runner for La Grange Stables today, namely Bawaader who takes his chance in the 4.55 at Chelmsford.

This seven-furlong 0-75 contest looked ideal for our horse on paper, as his three qualifying runs have earned him a handicap rating of 65 – which we hope is fair – and we have enlisted the help of first time blinkers to see if they might encourage some extra improvement.

However, our chances were dealt a potentially fatal blow when the draw came through, as we are stuck in the car park in gate 14 of 14! It is particularly unfortunate for this horse, as he had to race from stall 13 when he visited Chelmsford last time out, and in the circumstances he did particularly well to finish fifth. We will be trying to replicate that sort of performance today, and hopefully he will remain competitive, but clearly we are up against it. I do hope he is a horse that can prove competitive from his rating of 65 and then progress from it, so fingers crossed we can see some evidence to back up that opinion this afternoon.

All the best,
Ed.
