Dubai Frame

Hello from Newmarket, where the frustration continues! After a mid-week blighted by seconds, Melodies continued the trend with a gutsy performance at Newbury on Saturday, only to find one three-quarters of a length too good.  We took a chance by stepping her up to a higher grade of race, and she will inevitably suffer at the hands of the handicapper. However, it is comforting to know we have such a likeable and improving filly on our hands.

Our one runner today is Dubai Frame, who has not been quite so progressive in two starts this season, but tries his luck in the two mile handicap at Beverley at 6.00. He had shown a little bit of promise in three starts last season, and he has now dropped down to a rating of 62 – enabling him to contest a 0-65 in which he has joint top weight. Clearly, therefore, he is in a grade in which he should be competitive, and we are stepping up from a mile and a half to two miles in the hope that the extra distance is what he needs. If you forgive his last run then he must have every chance, but there is clearly a question mark hanging over him now. Kevin Stott has been booked to do the steering.

All the best,
Ed.
