Moamar Makes It Second Time Lucky At Newcastle

Fri 13 January 2017

Moamar

Moamar headed up to Newcastle on Wednesday afternoon as he sought to emulate our recent runner at Gosforth Park Zamjar, who had won a Nursery comfortably just before the New Year. After settling in well for the overnight stay his chances improved when paper favourite Mums The Word was withdrawn. After some anxious moments in the starting stalls our gelding thankfully broke on terms and Tom Eaves soon had him settled towards the rear of the field. He travelled well in behind the leaders and he was produced to win his race down the near side entering the final two furlongs. Our horse pinned his ears back and battled well to hold off Crindle Carr by half a length.

Our gelding improved on his debut where he was too keen early on in a deeper race and he was helped by the disappointing run of Arctic Sea who had finished in front of him at Chelmsford. Given the proximity of the third who the handicapper will set the form around it is unlikely Moamar can be given a stiff mark. It was pleasing the way he battled to the line and saw the testing Mile out and hopefully he can improve again in the future.

Congratulations to Moamar’s owner Mr Al Naboodah, we hope he will be the first of many La Grange trained winners for you in 2017. It is fantastic to get off to good start to the year and we hope the good recent form of the horses can continue. Well done to everyone out in the yard, a special mention must go to Scott McGeorge who has put in a lot of work with the son of Sepoy and travelled up with him to Newcastle.
