Manjaam Cleans Up At Bath

Sat 28 May 2016

Manjaam headed into the one mile and a half 0-85 handicap at Bath yesterday looking to prove that his disappointing effort at Newbury recently had been due to the soft ground. The son of Tamayuz had previously had an upwardly mobile profile having won twice in the earlier stages of 2016. Having missed the break by a fraction Luke Morris soon had the chestnut colt tracking the leaders in a good rhythm. As they turned for home a big gap on the inside opened up and Morris expertly guided him towards it. Once the gallop for home began in earnest Manjaam showed the qualities he had disaplayed on the all-weather and he pulled away for a two length success.

This was a competitive handicap and the front three pulled nicely clear of the field. Manjaam clearly needs a quick surface to be seen to best effect and this effort suggests he is an improving horse. He has now won over a mile, nine and a half furlongs and one and a half miles and his jockey felt this was his optimum trip. Once he is re-assessed we will look at further handicaps for him and he could well contest a valuable one in June.

Very well done to Mr Jaber who owns Manjaam, we hope your colt can continue to progress throughout the summer. This was our fifteenth winner in what has been a very productive May and we hope that the momentum can carry forward into an important June.
