Manjaam breaks his maiden tag

Manjaam

Manjaam gained a deserved first career victory under the floodlights at Chelmsford City last night, making amends for his unlucky Wolverhampton defeat, when gamely fending off Ice Royal to win by a neck. Having broken much better than he had done on his seasonal debut, he was soon nicely settled in behind the front pair; Luke Morris kicked off the home bend and despite initially hanging to his left, Manjaam showed a willing attitude to fend off Ice Royal when he was challenged.

The slow early pace was not ideal but Luke Morris was tactically aware and this ensured he was not caught out when the pace quickened entering the final half mile. He looks to be a type that will get further in time and ten furlongs should suit him ideally.

Ice Royal was finishing second for the fifth time and it will be harsh if the handicapper raises him more than a few pounds for this neck victory. We hope Manjaam will remain competitive off of his new mark and that he can add to his tally once the turf season commences.

Congratulations to Manjaam’s owner Mr Mohammed Jaber, who is a big supporter of La Grange Stables. We hope Manjaam’s win last night will be the first of many for Mr Jaber in 2016.
