Mandy wins at Southwell

Wed 21 November 2012

MANDY THE NAG ran out an easy winner of the mile maiden at Southwell yesterday for owner Dr Marwan Koukash. This filly had shown ability on her debut at Wolverhampton in October and was doing her best work at the end on her last start at the same track over nine furlongs. Dropping back to a mile yesterday did not pose any problems for the daughter of Proud Citizen even after racing widest throughout and when making her effort up the home straight she kept up to her work well to score by one and a quarter lengths.

Graham Lee who is probably best known for his exploits as a jump jockey but has made the transition to the flat with great ease and success said afterwards, "From stall seven I kept her as straight as I could, then in the second third of the race I tried to get her to go forward, and in the last third she kept lengthening and galloping."

This filly, whose dam is from the family of Law Society, is tough and will progress from this win and obviously stay further.
