King Kevin Brings Up 1000 Domestic Winners On Boxing Day

Wed 27 December 2017

King Kevin has been a model of consistency in recent months and the son of Holy Roman Emperor headed to the Midlands to try and secure his third win in 2017. His winning run ended up at Newcastle when he attempted 12f for the first time but he was a gallant second and lost nothing in defeat. Having won over the course and distance previously at Wolverhampton we were hopeful he would run a big race.

The son of Holy Roman Emperor can be a little slowly away but he broke well and secured a position in mid division on the inside rail. The leaders went a good gallop and King Kevin travelled well within himself throughout the contest. He continued to travel kindly as the leaders turned for home and Havlin moved our gelding off the rail as he looked for a gap. King Kevin squeezed his way through and despite shifting to his left, he was in the clear when doing so and he won comfortably by just over two lengths.

This was a clear career best from King Kevin and the strong gallop aided him in achieving this. He is gaining in confidence and enjoying his racing and whilst he is in this form he should remain competitive when stepping up in grade next time. The handicapper will more than likely raise him between five and six pounds for this victory.

Well done to everyone at La Grange. It was extremely satisfying to get to 1000 domestic winners in our own colours and we hope 2018 can be a prosperous one that brings many more winners.
