Joshua Tree has settled in

Mon 07 January 2013

We are delighted to report that our newest recruit here at La Grange, the multiple Group 1 winning JOSHUA TREE (Montjeu x Madeira Mist), has settled into his new surroundings. The Irish bred, who has been something of a journeyman throughout his career, is a six time winner, competing in Ireland, England, France, Italy and Germany, as well as Canada, Hong Kong, Qatar and Dubai over the past four seasons.

As a juvenile, he won the Royal Lodge Stakes (G2) at Ascot, and at three put up some exciting performances in the Voltigeur Stakes (G2) and the English St Leger (G1), then finished the season off on a high by taking his first Group 1 in the form of the Pattison Canadian International at Woodbine.

He returned to Canada's premier racetrack the following year to take the runner up spot in the mile and a half event, but it was in 2012 that he shone once again, when regaining his title in that season's renewal of Canada's richest race. Previous to that, he took the Qatar International Invitation Cup at Doha and also toppled a strong field of possible Melbourne Cup contenders with a strong display in the Prix Kergorlay (G2) at Deauville.

It is exciting for our team at La Grange to welcome this prolific winner and we look forward to training him for owners K K Al Nabooda and K Albahou.
