Hat-Trick Hero!

Mon 10 February 2020

The progressive Toro Dorado continued his excellent run of form on Saturday at Lingfield, returning to the winner’s enclosure yet again.

Although breaking a step slowly, Luke Morris managed to slot in nicely from stall six. Held up, but no further than a few lengths off the leaders the pair settled into a lovely rhythm. Despite being forced widest of all Toro Dorado quickened up smartly and soon hit the front. In spite of edging left handed Luke Morris straightened him up and the pair went on to prevail by another short margin, this time a neck.

Hat-tricks are hard to come by in life. Just to mention a few; perhaps the most famous was Geoff Hurst’s in the 1966 World Cup final, whilst Stuart Broad’s hat-trick against India back in 2011 was somewhat excellent and how can you forget Moeen Ali’s sublime three card trick to beat South Africa in 2017. We can now add Toro Dorado to that list!

It was another brilliant day out for the owners who continue to be great supporters of the yard. It is lovely to see them being rewarded.

Finally, yet again a massive thank you must go to Csongor who looks after him at home and his regular rider, Elena, has done a fantastic job with him, as well as the rest of the team.

He is a fantastic horse to have around the yard and we look forward to attempting a four-timer!
