Habaayib on comeback trial

Tue 07 September 2010

HABAAYIB, who was injured when finishing a highly respectable eighth in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket in May, will make her long-awaited return to the racecourse when she runs in the Japan Racing Association Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster on Thursday.

Ed said: "Habaayib has had a long time off, having suffered a small fracture in the Guineas, but she has been working well and as penalties for this Listed race are restricted to fillies who have only won Pattern races this year it looks the perfect place to get rolling again.

"Habaayib was a decent two-year-old and beat Lillie Langtry in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and that form looks pretty good now, but she was in season when subsequently beaten by Misheer in the Cherrry Hinton at Newmarket, and, having run well on her seasonal debut in the Fred Darling at Newbury, we were pleased with how well she ran in the Guineas, only to find that she had a problem when we got her home. Obviously, she will be race-rusty at Doncaster, but it will be good to get her started again, and, hopefully, we can build on this for an autumn campaign. She is a classy filly."
