Global Excels At Windsor

Tue 17 October 2017

Global Exceed headed to Windsor with some solid form to his name but we were worried that the 5f trip may prove to be a little sharp for him. He followed up a win at Lingfield with an unlucky second at Chepstow recently and he was one of only a few horses that headed into the race in good form.

Our colt was niggled along in the opening stages of the race as he was taken off his feet during the early exchanges. Adam Kirby was at pains to ensure he was not left with too much to do and he bustled him up to keep him within range of the leaders. He began to make up ground on the outside of the field two furlongs out and challenged in between horses entering the final furlong before hitting the front close home and winning a shade cosily by half a length at the line.

The son of Exceed And Excel is gradually improving and he has now won twice and been second on a further two occasions. This win will mean he will have to step up to 0-75 company but he will improve for six furlongs and should remain competitive in a higher grade.

Congratulations to our colt’s owner Dr Johnny Hon. Dr Hon was present at Windsor with a big group of friends and clients and so it was fantastic that Global Exceed was able to get his head in front. This was our forty fifth winner of 2017 and although many horses have been put away until next year, we hope we can reach the fifty winner mark soon.
