Global Angel Sprouts Wings At Chelmsford

Fri 09 February 2018

Global Angel returned to Chelmsford last night after a disappointing run at Southwell where he appeared to dislike the fibresand surface. The son of Dark Angel had run well at the Essex venue when a close fifth on his handicap debut and so we hoped a return to the polytrack would help to reignite some fire into his belly. He broke well from his wide draw and Havlin was able to sit tracking the leaders but he was pushed out three wide and had to suffer a wide trip around the bends. The front pair kicked for home rounding the final turn and shot clear but Global Angel gradually found for pressure up the home straight and wore down Dark Freedom close to the line to win by a neck.

It was fantastic to win for the first time with Global Angel and we hope that this victory will have given him some confidence. He looked to relish the step back up to ten furlongs and given he is out of an Authorized mare he looks like he will get twelve furlongs in time. The handicapper cannot be too hard on him given the narrow margin of victory and he should remain competitive in the right grade in the future.

Congratulations to Global Angel’s owner Dr Johnny Hon. We hope this will be the first of many La Grange trained winners for you in 2018. Well done to everyone in the yard, it has been very cold recently and this win has hopefully given everyone a boost.
