GIFTED APAKAY showed the right sort of spirit to defy topweight in the fillies handicap at Newcastle on Friday. She is her own worst enemy in that she is so consistent that she keeps climbing the ratings without winning, but she dug deep to win her first handicap at Gosforth Park and, hopefully, the assessor will not be too unkind when the new figures are released on Tuesday.
