Gabrielle Makes Dreams Come True At Redcar

Sat 15 October 2016

Gabrielle made the long overnight journey to Redcar worthwhile when she won the 5:05 6f Maiden there yesterday. Our daughter of Paco Boy was coming off a break after an encouraging second in a Yarmouth handicap back in June but we were hopeful she could win given she was the highest rated horse in the field. She was slowly away and De Sousa had to keep her up to her work in the early stages as the leaders set an honest gallop. Our filly started to make up ground in the middle of the race and hit the front approaching the one furlong marker. She soon put the race to bed before idling in the closing stages to win by a cosy one and three quarter lengths.

Whilst this was not the strongest Maiden it was fantastic to see our filly win and she will improve on this run when she is next seen. The handicapper will not be able to move her mark as she was entitled to beat her opponents on the official ratings. Gabrielle is now likely to head to the Horses In Training Sales and given her Dam was a Listed winner, there should be plenty of interest in her.

Congratulations to The Belfour Partnership who own the filly, the members have all been big supporters of the yard and we are delighted your patience with Gabrielle has paid off. Well done to Mrs Dunlop who has been riding Gabrielle on the gallops and also to Chrissie Dawson who is devoted to the filly she calls Gabriella Lochsong and drove her up to Redcar on Thursday afternoon.
