Sharaakah: lines up in the Oh So Sharp Stakes.

Quite cold but a pleasant autumnal morning.

Book 1 is over for another year and it has been a productive week for us. The marathon that is Book 2 begins on Monday and there are a lot of hard yards still to be put in before the sales season ends.

I won’t be inspecting today as I am at the Rowley Mile saddling Sharaakah, who lines up in the Oh So Sharp Stakes. She is one of the outsiders based on the market but her form in nurseries is pretty solid, and I was especially pleased to see her Doncaster conqueror Nemoralia finish second in Grade 1 company on the dirt last weekend.

The drying ground will be a positive for our filly and she will have no trouble with the undulations judged on her July Course win. While the completely unexposed maiden winners could be anything, she ought to run a respectable race.

We also saddle two at Wolverhampton this evening. Field Of Light steps into the unknown from a stamina perspective in the mile and six handicap, but he has stayed on purposefully in his races of late and we thought he was worth at least one crack at this trip. He appears in good form and should run well if getting home.

Mulhaam has proved too keen in his two forays over seven furlongs this autumn, but a strongly-run six caught him a little flat footed here last time. If Martin Harley can get him switched off before running through horses, these could prove his optimum conditions.

A wonderful afternoon of racing headlined by what looks a particularly strong renewal of the Fillies’ Mile. We have form links with Nathra so a big performance from her would encourage us, while it would be a super story if Beautiful Morning – the first foal out of Date With Destiny, the only George Washington to make it to the track – could continue her regal lineage with a bold showing.

Back tomorrow.
