Another glorious day in Newmarket.

Just a quick one today as I have managed to sneak off for a morning of shooting before heading to Ascot for our two runners this afternoon.

Sagaciously kicks things off in the Listed Noel Murless Stakes and we wanted to give her another crack at stakes company when this race was so short on numbers. We found no obvious reason for her Newbury disappointment, but she would be a player on the form of her previous short-head second at Newmarket, and this isn’t a vintage race for the grade. We think she will stay and we would love to get her some black-type.

Fieldsman will also represent us in the seven furlong handicap half an hour later and he too ran badly last time without any obvious excuses. He’s lightly raced for this time of year and this course and distance ought to suit, so while we are the outsider of the field, he should run better than his odds imply.

No domestic Flat racing on Sunday so no declarations this morning, although we are hardly short of action with the Arc meeting taking centre stage. Treve continues to make the anticipation fizzle.

Finally, we recevied an update on Snow Fairy yesterday and she is once again in foal. It's always good to see the old timers, and she still looks a legend even in the paddock!

Back tomorrow.

Ed.
