Red Secret

Good Afternoon from Newmarket. A quiet Friday for La Grange Stables, although we will be extremely busy tomorrow afternoon. More on that later, but first of all let’s talk about Red Secret who runs in the mile and a half novice at 7.40 at Newmarket this evening.

This horse, like our stable star Red Verdon, is a son of Lemon Drop Kid and he was very backward last year. He has started to get the hang of things in more recent months, showing distinct promise at a certain level in appearances at Chelmsford and Leicester.

In truth he is unlikely to be troubling the market leaders Passion And Glory and Away He Goes this evening, as they have both shown form that looks to be a on an entirely different level to ours. Red Secret will probably do better once handicapped after today’s run, however, I have been encouraged by both his racecourse outings so far, and I hope we will see more signs of promise tonight. I should mention that we will be monitoring underfoot conditions closely ahead of the race, as I would not want to risk him if the ground looked to be rattling fast.

All the best,
Ed.
