Mawsool

Hello from Newmarket. As the wind and rain continues to affect many parts of the country, today we head to Newbury with three runners. After the frustration of Yes Can Do refusing to load at Yarmouth yesterday, the day finished on a better note with a promising debut from Creek Harbour at Chelmsford.

Our first runner today is Mawsool in the six-furlong maiden at 1.45. He made a very pleasing debut at Newmarket in mid- August, staying on nicely in the latter stages to finish third. While there will undoubtedly be plenty of potential in opposition today, I am hopeful with some improvement from his first run Mawsool can go well but with plenty of choicely- bred newcomers in the field, it is difficult to be confident. Jim Crowley takes the ride.

Next up from La Grange is Alternative Fact in the twelve-furlong handicap at 2.20. He has run creditably all year without getting his head in front and will enjoy any ease in the ground. He is a horse of some ability, who I have always liked and despite this looking a very hot handicap on paper, I am hopeful of a decent showing from him. William Buick takes the ride.

Our final runner of the day is Roxy Art in the seven-furlong fillies conditions stakes at 4.30. She has performed well all season and ran well in a Group Three contest at Salisbury over six furlongs last time out. While this could be viewed as a drop in class, I think it is still a competitive contest with some form horses in the line-up along with some interesting newcomers. However, Roxy Art brings some good form and with the return to seven furlongs in her favour, I hope she will have a decent EW chance.

All the best

Ed
