As the New Year is well and truly underway the mood is positive around La Grange.

Although we have not had a whole host of runners over the past week that certainly did not stop it from being a successful one. With just two runners, both coming at a wet and windy Chelmsford City, this made it even nicer to get one on the board. Roca Magica finally got her much deserved day in the sun or rain, under a superbly timed ride from Robert Havlin. Later on the card Homesick Boy also ran yet another promising race. Having travelled well there wasn’t much pace to aim at and with a stronger gallop; I expect to see him return to winning ways in the near future.

Elsewhere around the yard our apprentice jockey Sophie Smith also had a ride for John Butler finishing 5th at Chelmsford. Assistant trainer, Jack Morland, helped keep spirits high and heads warm by distributing a new range of woolly hats.

Gottardo has been declared in the 3.40 at Lingfield tomorrow where Sophie takes the ride. It looks a fairly open affair but with a good draw in stall 3, we’re hopeful of good run.

I will keep you updated on how we get on later in the week.

Many Thanks,

Ed.
