Enola Wins On Debut At Lingfield

Fri 02 June 2017

Enola

Enola made her debut in a three year old Maiden Auction at Lingfield yesterday. Our filly was drawn widest of all in stall ten and she was therefore settled in midfield during the early stages of the race. She travelled noticeably well during the first half of the contest and she began to make a move forward as they swung around the bend into the home straight. Our filly found her stride once Antonio Fresu switched her into the middle of the track and she mounted her challenge heading towards the final furlong. She was game despite showing inexperience when hanging away from the whip and hung on by a neck from the more experienced Zack Mayo.

This was a pleasing performance for a debutant and with the conditions of the race suiting our filly the handicapper cannot judge her too harshly. She is a half-sister to the smart Dommersen and the useful Nebulla and this win will increase her paddock value. She stayed the extended one mile three trip well and showed a good attitude to fend off the runner up.

Congratulations to Mr Andrew Bengough and Mr John Brown in whose colours the filly runs in. It was also great for Antonio Fresu to get another winner for us as he rides out here most mornings and he got a very good tune out of Enola. Well done to the team here at La Grange, after a very quiet May it was encouraging to get a winner on June 1st and hopefully we can build on this and have a successful June
